據 Tylor 氏之說，謂野蠻人民，以爲有種種之魂魄，或寄於木，或寄於石，或寄於山，或寄於川，此宗教之所以發生。故曰宗教者，從魂魄之崇拜而出也.
English translation
According to Tylor, primitives believed that there are various souls residing in trees, rocks, hills, and springs, that is how religion came into being. Therefore, religion originated from soul worship.
