凡世界無問其為如何時代，無不有宗教之觀念， 又祖先教，偶像教，凡物教，動物教，植物教，自然物教等，亦無不同因一宗教觀念而生。蓋原始時代無形體之信仰，進而具一定之形體，為自然之禮拜。又經過多神教偶像教而為唯一神教或萬有神教。
English translation
The notion of religion has always existed in the world… There is ancestor worship, idol worship, object worship, animal and plant worship, nature worship, etc., all of which originated from the same notion of religion. The formless belief of the primitive period progressed and took a particular form, namely, nature worship. After that, there followed polytheism, idol worship, one God worship or universal God worship. (trans. Werzner)
