抑宗教之有名稱，無不因信仰幽界存在之性質觀念而生焉。幽界之名甚多，曰地獄，曰極樂，曰天堂，曰冥界，皆幽界之別稱也。故宗教無此性質者，則不得謂之為宗教。
English translation
As for [the things] called religion, there is none that would not have the characteristic and notion of believing in the existence of an obscure sphere (幽界). There are many names for obscure sphere, such as hell, extreme happiness, paradise, or ghost world. If a religion does not have this characteristic, we cannot call it religion. (trans. Werzner)
